Liaison Engineer

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Liaison Engineer performs a variety of engineering work including such areas as reverse engineering including design, including CAD model and drawing creation, production design, manufacturing processing, test and calibration.
- Works with various vendors, equipment and disciplines to reverse engineer, design, and manufacture a variety of aerospace parts.
- Inspection plans are created to assure production, quality, efficiency and volume of manufacturing.

We are looking fro a 1st shift Assembly Tech up in our Lake Zurich plant. Hours are from 6AM to 2PM, Monday through Friday, with little to no OT(max of 5 hours). Pay range is from $14 to $16p/hour. Below are the main things they're looking for:
Job Responsibilities:
- 2+years of Medical Device or Electrical small part Assembly experience
- Utilize single eyed microscpe to better see/produce parts
- Produce small assembled plastic/rubber parts according to product specs
- Follow detailed blueprints to assure product quality
- Keep track of materials, tools, and procedures as the device is manufactured
- Work with a variety of assembly equipment and hand tools including but not limited to tweezers, razor blade, scalpel, wire cutter, clippers, needle nose pliers, screwdriver, Allen wrenches, and ring light (magnifying glass)
- Must have the ability to utilize a variety of assembly equipment including lab oven, glue dispenser, trimming lathe, and computer-operated saw

- Produce innovative, intelligent designs for production in a timely manner with respect to the project schedule, while optimizing ease of manufacturing, cost, weight, and function;

- Produce accurate 3D models, preliminary layouts, production details and assembly drawings while meeting drawing release dates;
- Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product and data submittal to the customer;
- Produce ECNs (Engineering Change Notice) as required to support manufacturing, customers, quality, and certification;
- Release 3D models and drawings, maintaining data integrity;
- Act as a shop liaison during initial production of new product designs to prevent and/or solve any engineering issue that may arise;
- Identify problems and develop solutions;
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to examine supplier lead times, costs and availability for parts and tooling necessary to manufacture the product being designed.

Qualifications and requirements:
- Experience: 1-3 years
- Education: BS Engineering/Science, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred or
2-Yr Technical + 3-5 Yrs experience in field.
Preferred Skills:
- Sound understanding of mechanical systems, the strength of available materials, and manufacturing processes—composite experience is a plus;
- Basic understanding of tolerances and their implications;
- Basic understanding of airframe environment, interfaces, airworthiness and regulatory requirements for passenger aircraft;
- Computer Skills: MS Office Suite, MS Windows. CATIA V5, SmarTeam are preferred. AutoCAD is useful.

Job Description
LAUNCH is currently looking to hire a CNC Machinist to join our 2nd shift team for our facility in Harwood Heights. In this position, you will manufacture parts within a cell, utilizing multiple machines to exacting blueprint dimensions and ensuring 100%-part quality. You will perform simple set-ups on both manual and CNC turning / milling machining centers as well as editing CNC programs as necessary to improve the machining process and extend tool life while meeting production rates.
- Perform simple or repeat set-ups and operates equipment to produce high quality parts (100% good pieces) within prescribed routed time to meet production demands. If standard production rates cannot be met, the operator must notify his supervisor.
- Follow documented set-up sheets according to established procedures.
- Knowledgeable in basic GD&T and its application relative to part manufacture and inspection.
- Read and understand drawings to effectively manufacture parts to close tolerances.
- Maintain equipment via established preventative maintenance schedules.
- Follow all prescribed quality procedures and inspection plans.
- Perform 1st piece inspections and monitors own work to meet process requirements including fully documenting inspections reports developed by the Quality department.
- Verify that the inspection equipment being utilized is in calibration and performs a simple daily check against a known master to ensure the accuracy of the gauge to be used.
- Maintain area in a neat an orderly manner.
- Knowledgeable with tool / insert selection and utilizing the correct feeds and speeds for the
- materials being machined.
- Follow supervisor's direction to troubleshoot problem processes, interfacing with Manufacturing Engineers if necessary.
- Help train new individuals in basic CNC operations.
- Any additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Answer questions for those less experienced individuals within the department and helps in their training and development under the direction of departmental supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two to three years CNC Milling / Turning experience in a job shop environment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings and routings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to record process notes and document continuous improvement ideas. Must be able to clearly communicate with co-workers and supervisor verbally.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to solve inspection problems drawing from ones experience and develop new approaches. Must be able to correctly interpret GD&T on drawings and apply them to the manufacture and inspection of parts produced.
- Must be able to read a micrometer, drop indicator and vernier caliper. Should be able to utilize the optical comparator and profilometer. Complete 1st piece inspection reports as required per routing.
